Dictionaries

With both grade 4 and grade 3 students we are honing our "how to look words up in a dictionary" skills. I noticed that when some students read a text, they often go right past a word that is important because they don't know its meaning. I, then, ask them to look it up. I would encourage you to to use many synonyms and ask your child to look up the words. In class they use the book format and are getting better at finding words (and not tell me that 'master' or 'require' actually do not exist because the word to look up might be 'mastering')!
On my IPhone I have: Oxford, Oxford with pronunciation, Le Larousse and Le Robert, and we use all of them very often.
At home I imagine that you have a French one, a French-English one and an English one. Grade 3 students sometimes need to go from English to French and then the French one for the French definition.
